About me and my blog

I’m Davis Patterson, a traveler and sociologist, and I enjoy making planned and unplanned connections with people and places wherever I am. I do most of my blogging, reading, working out, singing, eating, sleeping, running, musing, and numerous other pursuits in Seattle, USA.

This blog arose out of my quest to go to the eight U.S. states I had never visited (Arkansas, Delaware, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Tennessee, and West Virginia) as a way of marking my 50th year, and to connect in a meaningful way with locals through volunteering (see more details in my first blog post, “Turning 50!”). I also hope to engage with you, the reader, to think about what it means to be of service and how we can bring random acts of volunteering into our daily lives.

Nice, Davis, I always had and am supporting volunteering and would do the same as soon as get off my other “must have” jobs… i have my mom in and elderly home (turned 90 last year) and she is very happy when volunteers come and play and talk with them….
This way we can make this world much happier and pleasant for many people….
